The Australian government's Threatened Species Action Plan 2022-2032 selected over 100 priority species derived from consultation with threatened species experts and the wider community. Description
The Cape Melville Leaf-tail Gecko is known only from a highly localised area of rainforest in the uplands of the Melville Range on Cape Melville on the Cape York Peninsula. The population is extremely small and there is no information on their dietry or reproductive biology.
Threats
Droughts and heatwaves have occurred in north Queensland in recent years. These are likely impacting this species, given its restriction to the coolest/moistest high elevation areas.
