Description

The Eastern Barred Bandicoot (Mainland) is a grey-brown to buff marsupial with three to four distinctive pale bars on its hindquarters. They appear to prefer areas with high soil moisture content, such as swampy depressions, poorly drained areas and along creek.

Threats

The Eastern Barred Bandicoot (Mainland) is threatened by invasive species, small population size, habitat loss, disturbance or modification, climate change, and disease. The species is threatened by several fire-related threats, including high severity fires, fire-drought interactions and fire-predator interactions.
