Threats
Loss and degradation of habitat is the key threat to this species. There has been widespread habitat loss across the superb parrot range, primarily involving the destruction or degradation of box-dominated woodlands for agricultural purposes and the he loss of old, hollow-bearing trees as it can take at least 120 years before trees can form hollows suitable for superb parrot nests. The Superb Parrot nests in loose colonies in large, living or dead trees with many hollow branches, typically near watercourses.
