Description
The Squatter Pigeon is a ground dwelling bird that is found in the grassy understorey of open eucalypt woodland It is nearly always found near permanent water such as rivers, creeks and waterholes.
Threats
The disappearance of this sbspecies has been attributed to over grazing in time of drought and land clearing. In Queensland, much of it's habitat has been replaced with improved pastures for cattle. But the current threats including ongoing vegetation clearance and fragmentation, overgrazing by livestock and feral animals such as rabbits and predation from feral cats.
