Description

The Australian Painted Snipe is an elusive bird with few sightings and are known to vanish for months or years at a time making it difficult to find basic information on their life cycle.

Threats

The Australian Painted Snipe has primarily been impacted by the loss of wetland habitat through the diversion of water away from wetlands; drainage of swamps; and clearing for urban and agricultural development.
